Two Women Killed, One Hurt in Dispute in Beeville, Man Arrested

Police have arrested a suspect after two women were killed and another was seriously hurt during an argument in South Texas. Beeville police did not immediately release the name of the man arrested following the deaths early Saturday or what charges he faces.

A 26-year-old man is in custody at the Bee County Jail this week, charged with capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Justice of the Peace Abel Suniga set a $2 million bond on the defendant, Pablo Garnica, and $20,000 bonds on each of the two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

City eligible for low-interest loan to repair water system

City Manager Jack Hamlett told Beeville Water Supply District board members last week that he had received good news from the Texas Water Development Board. The TWDB explained that a proposed project list sent to Austin earlier this year was considered eligible for low-interest loans from the state agency.

CBC seeking contestants for 2015 scholarship pageant

After a 20-year hiatus, the Mr. and Miss Coastal Bend College Scholarship Pageant will return to center stage on Saturday, November 7 at 6 p.m. The pageant is scheduled to take place at the Gertrude R. Jones Auditorium located at the CBC Beeville campus at 3800 Charco Road. The scholarship pageant is open to current students who are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours at one of CBC's locations in Beeville, Alice, Kingsville or Pleasanton.
